Our plans for returning to the pool

Swimming Rocks Home HQ’s will reopen for bookings on the 6th of July and we are now getting ready to start taking bookings for our late summer crash courses and for the autumn term starting in September.

As we all start to think about the route to reopening of swimming pools and swimming lessons, there are many challenges that will need to be identified to ensure that swim school operators assess the risks and provide Covid safe environments.

What is clear, is that these challenges are possible to navigate and the message from parents is clear – they see swimming lessons as a fundamental part of physical education and a non negotiable lifesaving skill.

Following our recent survey, over 92% of you wish to return September or before and over 60% of you are looking for ‘catch up’ sessions this summer. We have taken on board all your useful comments. Thank You.

With industry advisory documents now published, we await the advice from the government with a clear mandate to open, expected to be late July and as soon as we have this, it will be all systems go!

Please note: Anyone who had a lesson booked already for the summer term will be automatically enrolled into their space for the autumn term

Here are a few ways how we will be managing our responsibilities to ensure a safe learning environment for everyone:

• More pool space per swimmer
• Reduced baby group class sizes
• Social Distancing measures for spectators.
• Each Instructor will be stationed at opposite ends of the pool.
• Instructors will work in the water with all lessons unless the parent requests otherwise.
• SD will be factored into lesson plans wherever it is safe to do so.
• Lesson times will be staggered by 10 mins to reduce impact on the changing room.
• Parents will be offered their own personal mini equipment bag for use in their lessons.
• Teachers will have their own basket of key equipment and this will be sanitised between each lesson.
• Hand sanitising stations across all clubs
• Full ‘Covid compliant’ cleaning protocols
